Chatting away

Payton's doing a lot of three-word sentences. Mostly what I think of right now is "Mommy, get up!" or "Mommy bath too?" "Daddy coat on?" "Where Keystone gone?" "NO lotion leg!" etc. She still does mostly two-word stuff, like "Payton outside?" "Treat Keystone?" "Mommy shoes" "Daddy coat" etc.

At bath time, Payton likes to put her toys away while the water is draining. She will pick up a toy, say "Love you duck. Night night." Then she'll kiss it, and then put it in the bag. It's so stinkin' cute!

This morning she was a little maniac. She was running around, doing a lot of yelling. She was hiding behind the curtains in our bedroom, giggling madly. Then she would open them and yell "Peek boo! I see you!" and giggle like crazy.

"Come on!"

One of Payton's latest things is "Come on!" Last night she wanted to go upstairs and she kept saying "Come on, Keystone! Come on!" She wanted Keystone to go up the stairs, but of course he wasn't cooperating. She's also been playing with her big Elmo the last couple of days. Last night I put pajamas on him, and then he sat next to her on the footstool and I read them both a story. She wanted to take him in the bathtub, but I talked her out of that. I took a bath with her instead, which I do every now and then. When I don't, she'll say "Mommy bath? Mommy bath?" She's also been saying "too." So, "Mommy bath too?" It's pretty cute. She's been really good lately -- no biting! Knock on wood.

Sarah and Dave just sent us a truckload (literally) of hand-me-down toys. We hit the jackpot! There's a kitchen, a bunch of Little People stuff, and a train set. Hal unloaded some of the stuff in the garage last night, and when Payton and I got home and I got her out of the car. she spotted the kitchen and insisted on playing with it.

"Yeah"

I love her little yeah's. Like this morning, when I was leaving, she was crying "Mommy!" Then Hal asked if she wanted to watch Teletubbies and she said, sort of soft and whiny, "Yeah."

Mommy, why did all the bubbles go away?

Last night Payton was having a bath, and she turned to me and said "Mommy, why did all the bubbles go away?" By far her longest sentence to date. My jaw dropped, and I turned to Hal, who replied "Yep, I heard it!"

This bites...

Payton bit TWO kids at school yesterday! I don't know what to do with that kid. Miss Shea said, in Payton's defense, that both times the other child came up to her and tried to take a toy away from her, so at least it wasn't outright aggressiveness. I think she just does it when she gets really frustrated. She started to bite me last night, and I said 'No biting!' She stopped herself, then pointed to my arm, where she was going to bite me, and said 'Owie.' So maybe she's starting to get it.

Payton was very talkative at dinner again last night, so maybe it wasn't just the cookie that made her such a spaz the other night!

Lotion Wrestling

I went to find a recipe on the computer, and left Payton in the living room playing. A couple of minutes later I hear her whining and sounding increasingly frustrated. I go into the other room, and find that she had gotten a bottle of lotion off the counter. She had slathered her arms, legs, and feet in lotion. She was whining because she couldn't stand up! Every time she would try, her feet would slip out from under her in the pool of lotion on the wood floors! It was pretty hilarious.
